Monart School of Art Sponsors Autobiography Workshop
Monart School of Art is hosting a ten-week workshop on guided autobiography beginning January 10, 2011, at the Conservatory Senior Complex at 200 Country Brook Drive in Keller. The classes will meet every Monday morning from 9:00-11:30a from January 10-March 14th.
This workshop provides structure for anyone of any age who is interested in writing an autobiography. Each week, members of the group, under the guidance of a group leader, will explore a different life theme that has been influential in shaping their lives. Participants write two pages on each theme at home and bring their writing to share in a small group with others also sharing their stories.
“We start by asking participants to write down the history of branching points in their lives,” says Lois Frazier, owner of Monart School of Art. Then in subsequent sessions, participants explore such topics as family, the role of money in one’s life, one’s major life work or career, health and body, and other topics that interweave to form the tapestry of a life.
Guided autobiography is useful to people interested in beginning an autobiography or memoir, more fully understanding the meaning of their life, or finding knowledge in the past to help them live their present and future lives in more meaningful ways. It is particularly helpful to people facing any major life transition, such as a divorce, retirement, career change, parenthood, a move or health problems.
A free overview orientation will take place on January, 2nd at 2:00p at the Conservatory to learn more about this program. The cost of the ten-week course is $100. For more information, please call 817-993-1374 or come to the orientation.
