Independence Elementary Hosts Locks of Love Mother/Daughter Pajama Party
Independence Elementary School PTA, staff and students are working together to give back to the community by donating their hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
There are 12 IES students and two moms who have graciously volunteered to cut and donate their long hair during this fun event. The mothers will make the initial cut of their daughters' ponytails and then professional stylists will be on hand to give each person a brand new cute hairstyle!
The "Big Haircut Event" will take place on Friday, March 5 from 6-8:30 p.m. on the IES lunchroom stage. Ms. Gant, a 3rd grade teacher at IES, donated her long locks last Spring in front of the entire school which in turn inspired students to partake in this wonderful "Kids Helping Kids" event.
