Turkey Painting Craft

Children ages 5-10 are welcome to participate in turkey painting art craft in the Library's Meeting Room from 3:30-4:30 PM on Saturday, November 22. The KPL Art Club is sponsoring the event, which is free and no registration is required.

Monart School of Art to Host Holiday Mini Camps for Keller/Southlake Greater Area

Friday, November 28th, Monart School of Art will offer two mini art camps for students and guests, ages 4 and up, the day after Thanksgiving. This is a great opportunity for moms and dads who want to soak in that extra football game or take the day to go shopping.

Monart will host a morning mini camp from 10:00am-12:00pm exclusively for children ages 4 to 6. Attendees will learn to draw a cornucopia still life, paint an autumn watercolor picture and create Holiday postcards.

An afternoon mini camp for children ages 7 and up will take place from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Students will participate in learning to draw portraits and facial features. As a special treat for this class, Monart has invited two live American Indians to come in full authentic dress to model for the session.

Cost is $30 per student/per class paid in full to reserve spot.

Holiday Yard Decorating Contest

Join in the holiday spirit and trim your yard, house, or business with lights and holiday decor. This year's theme is "Santa and his reindeers". Entries may be in the House, Street, Subdivision, or Business categories. Entry forms will be available beginning in November. Best in Theme, First, Second and Third place winners in each division will have a sign posted in their yard and will be listed in The Keller Citizen newspaper.

Monart School of Art Hosts "A Taste of Art" to Benefit Community Storehouse

December 5th, Monart School of Art will host its first annual art show to benefit Community Storehouse (www.CommunityStorehouse.org), a local nonprofit relief agency that serves children in the community.

“A Taste of Art” will feature original drawings and paintings created by art students of Monart School of Art which will be on display and available for purchase via live auction, prices ranging from $5-$20.

Attendance to the event is free, however, patrons are encouraged to bring donations of Spaghetti Sauce and Pasta in support of helping to keep Community Storehouse’s pantry stocked. Coats will also be accepted as donations.

“A Taste of Art” will be held from 4:00pm-6:30pm, Friday, December 5th at Monart School of Art.

Holly Days at Keller Town Center

Bring your coats and mittens and join in the holiday spirit at Keller Town Center. The plaza will come to life with lights and holiday decor. Enjoy the Holly Jolly Light Parade, the lighting of the Christmas tree, Santa's arrival, stage entertainment, a giant snow slide, holiday arts and craft vendors, and childrens' activities at the Jingle Bell Zone. Admission to the Zone is one non-perishable food item to be donated to the Community Storehouse. Holiday souvenirs will be distributed to the first 100 who donate.

Parade entry forms are available at Keller Parks and Recreation beginning in early October.

Breakfast with Santa

Cost: $10 per participant

Children will get a chance to sit on Santa's lap, give him their wish list and have their picture taken with the holly old man and his wife. While waiting for Santa, a variety of activities will be offered, including arts and crafts, face painting and breakfast. Tickets will be sold in advance for hourly time slots and admission is limited, so be sure and register early! Breakfast provided by McDonald's!

Time slots available are: 8:00-9:00 am; 9:00-10:00 am; 10:00-11:00 am; 11:00 am-12:00 pm

Jake’s Loft Holds Charitable Book Signing Event

Bert Jacobs, nationally-known co-founder of the Life is good® brand of clothing and accessories, will appear at Jake’s Loft, a newly opened retail store on at the Shops of Southlake that sells exclusively Life is good products, on Sunday, December 7th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Bert will sign copies of his fundraising book Life is good: Simple Wisdom from Jake and Rocket. 100% of Life is good’s profit from book sales at the event will be donated to the Life is good Kids Foundation, established to help children facing unfair challenges. Book sales in the past year have resulted in company donations of more than $250,000 to the Foundation.

Jake’s Loft, launched in August 2007 in Southlake, TX by local owners Dyane and Lynn Arnn, is an independently owned store, called a Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe, selling nothing but Life is good products. While such stores featuring the popular product line are opening across the country, Jake’s Loft is the first store of its kind in Tarrant County. The store offers a complete line of clothing and accessories, much of it featuring Jake, the happy-go-lucky stick figure with a huge smile who represents the brand, and his dog Rocket.
