The major accounting firm of Deloitte will be opening a state-of-the-art learning and leadership center near the intersection of Dove Road/114 in Westlake this Fall. Ground breaking will take place later this month. A tentative opening is sometime mid 2011.

Recently, I attended a Keller Chamber luncheon where a guest speaker and developer of the $300,000,000 facility discussed the campus. On a little over 100 acres, the facility will house three buildings, cover 712,000 sq. feet of campus and house over 800 guest rooms. They are calling it Deloitte University.

This space will feature multiple conference spaces, classroom, a ballroom, a business center, recreational facilities and a fitness center. Green considerations are a top priority in the project and they are working hard to keep as many of the majestic trees on the property. Some of the biking/hiking trails will be connected to the trails already established in Westlake.

This facility will be used by their leadership groups, research and industry teams and allow new hires a place to learn more about the wealth of opportunities with Deloitte. Recreational activities, creative learning and social networking are integral components to Deloitte’s business structure.

For the businesses in the area it will mean a boost economically with an estimated 40,000 visitors. Approximately 100 new full-time jobs and 300-400 new non-Deloitte jobs will be added as they get close to opening. Competition was fierce for the location throughout the U.S., but they have chosen Westlake as the ideal location.

Photographs of the campus can be found on the following website: www.westlake-tx.org/en/Deloitte_university.html

Check it out and welcome our new neighbors.
