FRHS Girls Basketball raises $2,700 for LIVESTRONG
The Fossil Ridge High girls basketball team raised $2,700 on Friday night, Jan. 22 for the Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG Foundation.
The athletes raised money during the week leading up to last Friday's game against Keller High and fans also were able to donate money during the girls and boys varsity basketball games between the two KISD schools.
"Each one of us has been personally touched by someone with cancer," said Ridge Head Coach Stacy Henson. "There are many charities that benefit our society greatly; however, I feel there is none better than the LIVESTRONG Foundation which is in search for a cure for cancer."
Henson credits Coach James Jones for organizing the event and said and the Lady Panthers would like to thank each individual who donated to this very worthy cause.
Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the foundation exists to inspire and empower others affected by cancer. Funds raised for the foundation go toward prevention education, providing access to screening and care, quality of life improvements for cancer survivors, and investments in research for a cure.
