Rocky Top Therapy Center, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, was established in 1990 and is one of less than 250 premier riding centers accredited through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). Located on a working ranch in Keller, Texas, the center was founded by Doug and Vivian Newton, who recognized the physical and emotional benefits that horseback riding could offer their community’s population of individuals with disabilities. Currently they address the needs of more than 250 mentally, physically and emotionally challenged individuals each week utilizing upwards to 50 therapy horses. For additional information on Rocky Top Therapy Center please visit their website at www.rockytoptherapy.org or call 817-379-5717.

Rocky Top Therapy Center is offering our military veterans and their families Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Therapeutic Riding through the Horses for Heroes Program. In an effort to meet the needs and improve the lives of these heroes, Horses for Heroes partners mental health professionals with NARHA certified riding instructors, incorporating every possible benefit the scenic Rocky Top Ranch setting has to offer. Horses for Heroes utilizes EAP, an innovative form of therapy that incorporates horses and mental health professionals, to address many of the challenges that arise for service men and women who have suffered trauma in the line of duty, helping them to adjust physically and emotionally to their post-war lives.
