If it is May, then it is time for our annual Board of Trustees election. This year's cycle only has two seats up for election, Place 4 (incumbent Craig Allen) and Place 5 (incumbent Lara Lee Hogg). Keller ISD, like most school districts, does not have all seven seats on the ballot at the same time to ensure continuity in governance and leadership. While Trustees do have annual continuing education requirements, a great deal of 'on-the-job training' occurs, especially during one's first year on the Board. Many people choose to run for the Board of Trustees because they want to enact immediate change, only to discover that change is rarely immediate and that State and Federal legislation limit what a local school board and its members can actually do.
