Metroport Meals on Wheels Receives Grant From New York Life

New York Life Insurance Company’s Fort Worth, Texas General Office has awarded a $9,000 grant to Metroport Meals On Wheels, Inc. as part of the Company’s Community Impact Grants (CIG) program.

“We are grateful for New York Life’s investment in this program, which will have a lasting effect on the entire community,” said Mary King, Executive Director, Metroport Meals On Wheels, Inc. New York Life’s continued participation in our programs has benefited many people in the community as we work to accomplish our mission.”

“New York Life is proud to support Metroport Meals On Wheels in our community,” said Kevin Garman, Managing Partner, Fort Worth, Texas General Office. “It’s gratifying to be able to provide grants to local nonprofits which help meet the needs of the community where New York Life agents, employees, and customers live and work.”

The CIG program, which began in 2008, awards nonprofit organizations that are supported by New York Life agents, field managers and employees and address the needs of the community. Twenty-nine nonprofits were granted $300,000 through this program in 2008.

About Metroport Meals On Wheels - Metroport Meals On Wheels (MMOW), founded in 1980, is a grassroots organization that serves as an advocate for elderly or chronically ill individuals in northeast Tarrant, southern Denton, and eastern Wise counties. In 2008, more than 58,000 meals were provided by home-delivery or as part of interactive senior center programs, thanks to individual and corporate donations, fundraising events and a loyal corps of over 500 volunteers. MMOW operates independently and does not receive any federal or stimulus funding.
